Arborcycle is a local bicycle delivery company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan focused on delivering items from the farmer’s market, specifically shares from CSA’s to residents who don’t want to drive downtown to pick them up. I approached Arborcycle to see if they might be interested in some upgrades to their logo design and website to bring in more potential clients. The image above is the original logo that I was asked to keep and incorporate into the new design.
My goal was to give the business’ name a great image that was iconic and memorable and also conveyed the ideals of the business. The City of Ann Arbor is marked by many images of trees (Arbor) and is know for being very eco-friendly, bike-friendly, and generally socially conscious. I decided that a tree would be a great base to show both the focus of the business on the locality and environment. Obviously a bicycle had to also be incorporated into the image since the business is driven by bicycle delivery.
I also updated the text so that it was more readable and updated the colors to be clearer and more visually appealing. The business text logo was developed from the business owner’s own creation of a bike flag to identify himself when he is riding around town delivering to clients. The text logo can also be used as a letterhead or business card.
After developing a new identity and branding style for Arborcycle, I created a website to allow easier editing through Wordpress as well as tools to manage a team of riders making deliveries all over the city. The website theme is optimized for mobile usage and streamlines ordering.
